The Incoterms® rules, created by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in 1936, are a set of rules that are included in all contracts for the sale of goods in order to establish the rights and obligations of seller and purchaser regarding place of delivery of goods, allocation of costs and risk transfer in domestic and international commercial transactions.

The designation incoterms comes from the trademark Incoterms®, acronym of International Commerce Terms. The International Chamber of Commerce reviews and updates the Incoterms® rules every 10 years. Last update are Incoterms® 2020, in force since January 1st, 2020.

The Incoterms online dictionary contains 17 terms, 11 of them corresponding to the Incoterms® 2020. The terms of Incoterms® 2000 and Incoterms® 2010 are included as well; though they are no longer in the current version of 2020, they are deemed of terminological interest. Every terminological entry contains designations in Catalan and equivalents in Spanish, French and English, a definition, and explanatory notes.

Most of the terms of this compilation have been studied and approved by the TERMCAT’s Supervisory Council in the late 1990s. Now, on the occasion of the publication of Incoterms® 2020, we worked again in the revision and updating of that terminology, in cooperation with the main specialists of the Agency for Business Competitiveness (ACCIÓ) of the Catalan Government, of the Spanish Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Spain) and of the Banco Sabadell, and with the assistance of the Supervisory Council, who studied and approved the proposed terms.

The Incoterms dictionary is the result of a work whose main purpose is to enable the diffusion of the Catalan designations of incoterms among the professionals in the field of international trade.

Clicking on "Consulta de termes" (‘Term search’), terms can be looked up in three ways: using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language), using the thematic access or making simple or advanced searches in the upper space "Text de la consulta" (‘Text search’) in any of the dictionary languages.
