The Terminologia del twirling (‘Twirling terminology’) gathers the essential terminology related to this sport, which is practiced with musical accompaniment and consists in performing exercises coordinately and harmonically with one or more batons, or with pompons or flags for exhibition purposes. The Terminologia del twirling contains about 70 terms, which are classified according to three thematic areas: general concepts; modalities and disciplines, and elements. This dictionary is aimed to cover the terminological gap existing in Catalan regarding the specific terminology relating to twirling, a sport that has gained in popularity throughout Catalonia in recent years.
Each terminological entry contains the preferred denomination in Catalan and the corresponding synonyms, if any; documented equivalents in Spanish, English and French; a definition in Catalan, and explanatory notes when necessary. It also includes the thematic area each term belongs to.
Clicking on "Consulta de termes" (‘Term search’), terms can be looked up in three ways: using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language), using the thematic access or making simple or advanced searches in the upper space "Text de la consulta" (‘Text search’) in any of the dictionary languages.
