The Diccionari de meteorologia (Dictionary of Meteorology) has 876 entries related to meteorology. Each entry contains Catalan terms and their definitions, the equivalent terms in Spanish, French and English, and in some cases explanatory notes.
This is an online version of the Diccionari de meteorologia published in 1992 thanks to the work of many field experts, professors of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and linguists of the UPC’s Language and Terminology Service, with the terminological advice of TERMCAT.
The aim of this dictionary is to make available to Catalan society the meteorological terms most frequently used by specialists. It is intended for meteorologists, professors and students, university staff whose work is related to meteorology, editors, translators and general users who may be interested in finding the concept and its correct translation in this field.
Clicking on "Consulta de termes" (‘Term search’), terms can be looked up using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language) or making simple or advanced searches in the upper space "Text de la consulta" (‘Text search’) in any of the dictionary languages. This online edition of the dictionary also offers for the first time the possibility of consulting the terms by thematic areas.
