The work Terminologia de la salut cardiovascular (‘Cardiovascular health terminology’) comprises more than a hundred basic terms related to this subject. It is complemented with the Salut cardiovascular. Termes clau (‘Cardiovascular health. Key terms’) infographic, which aims to spread some of its most important terms.
The dictionary and the infographic have been elaborated in cooperation with the Societat Catalana del Diccionari Enciclopèdic de Medicina and with the help of some independent experts giving advice to the TERMCAT on punctual occasions too. In addition to that, there has also been some cooperation with linguists from ÉsAdir (the language portal of the Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation [CCMA]).
All these terminological resources are part of the support actions to the television programme La Marató de TV3 i Catalunya Ràdio and its partner Fundació La Marató de TV3 initiative that, in the 2022 edition, wanted to raise awareness of the impact that cardiovascular illnesses can have on society and public health.
This dictionary is intended to be a practical tool of reference to all professionals that might need to use the cardiovascular health basic terms both in science communication and in the academic field. We encourage you to use it and spread it. Please do not hesitate to reach back to us for any potential improvement or updates that you may have.
Each terminological entry contains the preferred denomination in Catalan and the corresponding synonyms, if any, and equivalents in Spanish, French, English. It also includes the thematic area each term belongs to.
Clicking on "Consulta de termes" (‘Term search’), terms can be looked up in three ways: using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language), using the thematic access or making simple or advanced searches in the upper space "Text de la consulta" (‘Text search’) in any of the dictionary languages.
