Lèxic de fàrmacs

This dictionary gathers more than 3,000 terms that designate the most common drugs with their Catalan denominations, their correspondent equivalents in Spanish, French and English, the CAS Registry Number and their most common therapeutic actions or action mechanisms.

Nomenclature is updated yearly with the inclusion of approved new international nonproprietary names (which can be looked up separately in the Noves incorporacions ('New entries') section). There is also a revision and updating of the Normes pràctiques per a la versió catalana de les denominacions comunes internacionals (DCI) de les substàncies farmacèutiques ('Practical Guidelines for the Catalan Version of International Nonproprietary Names (INN) of Pharmaceutical Substances'): Catalan drug names presented in this dictionary follow these guidelines, which include new criteria for graphic adaptation and some notes on syntagmatic forms and accentuation.

It is the online version of the Lèxic de fàrmacs ('Drugs Vocabulary') that the Barcelona Pharmacists Association and TERMCAT have elaborated and the Association has published in April 2008 with the sponsorship of Obra Social Caixa Sabadell.

Clicking on "Consulta de termes" (‘Term search’), terms can be looked up in three ways: using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language), using the thematic access or making simple or advanced searches in the upper space "Text de la consulta" (‘Text search’) in any of the dictionary languages.
