This compilation is devoted to mediation, probably the best-known non-judicial conflict resolution procedure. It includes 660 terms, with 756 names in Catalan, equivalents in Spanish and English, definitions and notes.
The work is structured around the four main thematic axes detailed in the document Concept diagram, which can be consulted from this same presentation page: the conflict, the mediation process, the fields of application of mediation, and other management systems and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
With regard to the ADR, we would like to point out that the user will find records corresponding to basic and well-known procedures, such as arbitrariness, conciliation and mediation, as well as others referring to more recently implemented systems such as collaborative law or parenting coordination. It also includes other less well-known ADR, some of which are not yet made in our territory but are provided for in the White Book on Mediation in Catalonia such as the mini-trial, expert fact-finding or early neutral evaluation.
It is precisely this second group of terms that the TERMCAT Supervisory Council studied and standardised when drawing up this dictionary, given the neological nature of this terminology, which was agreed with a group of experts and then evaluated by the Supervisory Council. Thus, all the neological contents of this dictionary correspond to standardised terms.
This compilation is presented as an open and dynamic project that will be enriched by new proposals from specialists and users. Therefore, any consultant or specialist who wishes to participate can send their proposals or comments to the work team.
Clicking on "Consulta de termes" (‘Term search’), terms can be looked up in three ways: using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language), using the thematic access or making simple or advanced searches in the upper space "Text de la consulta" (‘Text search’) in any of the dictionary languages.
