The Diccionari de malalties metabòliques. Obesitat i diabetis (‘Dictionary of metabolic disease. Obesity and diabetes’) gathers 180 basic terms related to these two diseases. By these work TERMCAT gives its support to La Marató de TV3 this year's program, dedicated to these two major health conditions, with the aim of contributing to give them greater visibility, from the field of terminology.
Entries come from the terminology research carried out in the ongoing projects in the field of health sciences. The dictionary has been developed in collaboration with linguists members of ÉsAdir, language portal of the Corporació Catalana de Mitjans Audiovisuals (‘Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media’).
Each terminological entry contains the preferred denomination in Catalan and the corresponding synonyms, if any; equivalents in Spanish, French and English; a definition in Catalan, and explanatory notes when necessary. It also includes the thematic area or areas each term belongs to.
Clicking on "Consulta de termes" (‘Term search’), terms can be looked up in three ways: using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language), using the thematic access or making simple or advanced searches in the upper space "Text de la consulta" (‘Text search’) in any of the dictionary languages.
