Diccionari de l'emergència climàtica - Presentació

The Diccionari de l'emergència climàtica ('Dictionary of Climate Emergency') gathers 230 terms related to climate change and climate transition, grouped into the following thematic areas: general concepts, causes of climate change, effects of climate change, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, and reference agreements and organisations.
Each terminological entry contains the preferred denomination in Catalan and, where appropriate, the corresponding synonyms; equivalents in Spanish, French and English; the assigned subject area; a definition in Catalan, and, in almost all entries, explanatory notes.
This work, which is the result of a TERMCAT initiative, has been produced in collaboration with the Catalan Meteorological Service and the Catalan Office for Climate Change, organisations that depend on the Government of Catalonia's Department of Territory and Sustainability. Given the current situation of climate crisis, this dictionary has been conceived as a compilation of the main terminology of the area in order to facilitate the communication in Catalan and can add to the understanding and the diffusion of the most relevant concepts.
About twenty of the terms included in the dictionary have been studied by the Supervisory Council of the TERMCAT, the responsible organ for establishing Catalan terminology, which has set up the most appropriate Catalan designations. Examples of terms standardised by the Supervisory Council are crèdit de carboni, petjada de carboni, descarbonitzat -ada (with the synonym lliure de carboni), neutre -a en carboni (with the synonym climàticament neutre -a), temps de permanència or migrant climàtic (with the synonyms desplaçat climàtic and refugiat climàtic).
Clicking on “Consulta de termes” (‘Term search’), you can have access to terms in three ways: using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language of the dictionary); using the telematic index in Catalan, or making simple or advanced searches directly in the upper space “Text de la consulta” (‘Text search’) in any of the dictionary languages.
