Lèxic de productes sanitaris (‘Lexicon of medical devices’) contains 8,342 entries relating to the descriptions included in the European Medical Devices Nomenclature (EMDN). This is the official system established by the European Commission to homogeneously describe medical devices registered in the European Database on Medical Devices (EUDAMED). This standardized nomenclature facilitates interoperability, contributes to the regulatory safety provided in European regulations, and offers clear and consistent information on each product. 

The data offered in this online dictionary comes from the counselling carried out by TERMCAT in 2025, as an initiative of the Service of Language Planning of the Departament de Salut (Catalan Ministry of Health), in which the Catalan version of this subset of descriptions has been validated. This nomenclature is part of the Terminology Server of the Information Systems Area of the Servei Català de la Salut (Catalan Health Service), the reference catalogue tool of the healthcare system used to manage communication among the different healthcare providers. The information contained in this online dictionary has been adapted to a terminographic format in order to facilitate data retrieval. 

Each terminological entry includes the Catalan denomination and the equivalent in English. This work does not include definitions because of the descriptive nature of the denominations. 

Clicking on “Consulta de termes” (‘Term search’), terminological entries can be accessed in two different ways: by consulting the alphabetical list of all denominations (for each of the dictionary languages) or by making simple or advanced searches directly in the “Text de la consulta” (‘Text search’) field, in any of the dictionary languages.
