This dictionary, Noms de mamífers marins (“Names of marine mammals”), is a descriptive work elaborated by Jordi Lleonart, with TERMCAT’s terminological advice and the support of the Biology Section of the Institute for Catalan Studies.

It includes more than 350 Catalan names for marine mammals corresponding to 150 scientific names, presented in terminological entries referred to zoological taxa with the documentation sources. Each entry gathers the Catalan denominations, the equivalents in Spanish, English and French, the scientific name with the authorship mention and the FAO 3-alpha code, basically documented at the ASFIS, the FAO List of Species for Fishery Statistics Purposes.

Clicking on "Consulta de termes", terms can be looked up in three ways: using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language), using the thematic access or making simple or advanced searches in the upper space "Text de la consulta" in any of the dictionary languages.
