Diccionari dels XVIII Jocs Mediterranis: Tarragona 2018

The Diccionari dels XVIII Jocs Mediterranis: Tarragona 2018 ('Dictionary of the XVIII Mediterranean Games: Tarragona 2018') gathers more than 7000 basic terms related to all the competition sports of the XVIII Mediterranean Games, which take place in the city of Tarragona, from the 22^nd of June to the 1^st of July.

This work is the result of a collaboration between TERMCAT, the Tarragona 2017 Foundation and the Sports Federation Union of Catalonia.

It is an adaptation of the content of the Diccionari general de l’esport ('General Dictionary of Sport'), published in 2010 in cooperation with the Sports Federation Union of Catalonia, which gathers terminology about Olympic disciplines, with the particularities of the Mediterranean Games. Additionally, the Diccionari dels XVIII Jocs Mediterranis: Tarragona 2018 ('Dictionary of the XVIII Mediterranean Games: Tarragona 2018') includes a selection of basic terms belonging to triathlon and beach volleyball, two sport disciplines that are present in this edition of the Mediterranean Games and that were not included in the Diccionari general de l’esport, provided that they are not Olympic disciplines.

This work aims to be a useful reference tool for the areas (members of the organization, journalists, linguistic mediators, etc.) that need to use sports terminology in their professional activity during the Games.

Clicking on "Consulta de termes" (‘Term search’), terms can be looked up in three ways: using the alphabetical indexes (there is a different index for each language), using the thematic access or making simple or advanced searches in the upper space "Text de la consulta" (‘Text search’) in any of the dictionary languages.
